From bleh to celestial hatred.

Like the last post, I told you guys about my discovery to Komik-M. Naturally, I felt a little unsatisfied with the last “dough” I got so I landed my hands on another Komik-M comic to satiate my high taste for perfection; I just wanted to be proven wrong, in a good way OwO
I just want to see greater comics produced every time the printer at Komik-M runs a new series/book.

Most of the times, dreams can be just dreams.

I found Aviasi Fantasi, a comic by the brothers Nazry & Afiq. The cover just screams “BUY ME”; its has a different feel all together compared to earlier Komik-Ms publishing; it gave off this prestigious “a good comic” read aura. The well coordinated composition on the cover, the distinct art and excellent non-cartoony style of colouring. In other words, it’s like beeping off a heartbeat of life to the mundane line up of Komik-M’s sheet.

Well, it was just a beep indeed. And then the beep died 8C

Compared to other publishing by Komik-M, I’d give it a 4/5, but in general I can give it only 2/5. The artwork hurts my eyes, and the story, albeit quite interesting and has its own reliable niche, suffers from rocky flow. Its shifty and awkward, just like ambitious Malay movies (eg. Lagenda Budak Setan). Some of the panels are just... it killed the flow. The whole story is kinda jumpy, like a semi-rushed, yet trying-to-relax attempt of a comic.

Don’t get me wrong, the idea of the comic itself is rocking! How many artists come up with the idea of kampung kids flying around in old airplanes for their year-end break? Plus the details on scientific facts are a great touch. But somehow, it feels like its written by an excited and inexperienced (plus hyper) kid. The story itself is like a sad excuse for an adventure. And villains, megaplots or some other celestially awesome things thrown in, somehow.

The whole artwork has a Bakuman feel to it; no, not the story, but Obata’s recent adaptation to the manga. I don’t know if many of you notice it, but Obata alter his style a bit for every manga he collaborates with. In Bakuman, you can feel the fresh and juvenile feel to the artwork, clean and kinetic. Just like Aviasi Fantasi. The expression and gestures should totally be given notice for this similarity.

The whole unsettled feeling I got from this comic was acceptable to me for the mean time; Komik-M is just taking its baby steps and the last thing I want to expect is international standard, especially considering PTSone is a kiddy publishing, and these two are total newbies to the industry. But the next post explains why I’m starting these post anyway =__=

Komik-M: The Journey

I was first introduced to the attempt of Malaysian comic artists to produce quality graphic novels (oh I respect it enough to call it this, yes~) from Azhar's Liga Pendekar.
Actually, I wouldn't know it existed if it weren't for my brother, who was a friend of Azhar during their early geeky comic days ( yeah, I feel bad saying that about them OAO)

My brother is such a party pooper :<
(he's Qamaira aka Kama Lina)

Azhar texted him about the launching and coincidentally I saw a copy at a local bookstore. Talk about fate XD

The next book I bought from Komik-M was Pac's TwinX. At the price of RM7.90, its awfully expensive and kinda leaves you with the feeling of being ripped-off.

I'm ashamed to admit I kinda like the simplistic cover O_O

I felt so, until I landed my hand on the comic (or should I say comics) that changed it ALL.
Sorry babes but from here onwards, I'm making reviews of Komik-M and boy, I'm being personal ^__^

The Adventure for the Green Tea Cupcake!

Photo from hellonaomi

Come one la, who doesn't agree with this statement? - Cupcakes is the new sensation.

Either you've been at an underground bunker planning a Neo-Nazi revolution or just so busy to care, cupcakes are a new revolution to the pastry industry. Okay that sounds like an essay introduction (with a baka-tastic twist =___=")
Either way, I've seen lately there's this cupcake sensation which involves those birthday cupcakes in a huge box thing (so lazy to sound smart) like these [link] [link]

They are....very...lovely-ish (WTF?)

So....I kinda got caught in the trend oh~
Actually, I have been having this cravings for a green tea flavored things, thanks to the delicious Green Milk bubble tea sold at our local night market every Sunday (we dubbed it the Red Lantern cuz of the red lantern they hung on their stall, it has panda printed on it, cute! >__<")

So the quest begin with the essentials; achieving the green tea flavor. The specialty of the bubble tea I loved is the fact that its slightly tobacco-ish flavored with a very aromatic sweet scent! Its a unique blend really. And I recalled the flavoring the Red Lanterners put in; its a beverage mix! Thus, it must exist in shops.
And it does!

It turns out, the sweet smell comes from the jasmine mixed into the green tea. The mix itself is really great to be mixed with fresh milk! Yay! And it makes your breath smells like jasmine, mmh~♥♥

Since I got the flavoring already, the cupcake quest continues!

I used this recipe for the cupcake: [link]
  • Personally, I don't like this recipe much: the cupcake is moist, and very rich. I was hoping it would light and spongy so that the buttercream would taste okay with it.
For the buttercream, I used this recipe: [link]
(actually I can't find the original one I used, but its the same as the one i provided.

And the result:

Those chocolate laces are self made using melted chocolate piped through a plastic bag with the end snipped.

.....The verdict: both of the cream and cupcake is too rich, which makes the cupcake very...heavy. Means that its not a "stuff-in-your face" kind. Its not really bad though. But buttercream is not good for green tea; it overwhelms it. So maybe I'll try whipped cream next time.

Wasted self disgust.

Seriously.

I rejected someone on Valentine's Day.
I felt so disgusted at myself. That person seemed so honest. I felt like a mega-asshole that needs to be stoned, really stoned. With rocks. Until I die.

I was [almost] totally fooled.

Less than a week after, that person got into a relationship.
=_____=

What a wasted emotional torture.

"When I love someone so much I need more time to recover"
How's a few days is more time?

I took THREE FREAKING YEARS to recover from a relationship. Nobody could give me the same feeling after wards.
Until now ^__^

To that person, if you somehow magically stumble upon this blog of mine and wasted your crappy, bastardly, asshole-ly time to read this post, well thank you for showing me that sweet talkers are pure shitheads. And some people throw their words of love like burger wrappings. I pity the person who is hooked on you. I wish that person was like me too.
Pity-ed
you.

I was both really, really pissed and upset, but at the same time, I'm so relieved I still have somebody trustworthy to keep me at bay from creeps like you.
Yes, creeps. Like. You.

I almost love-ed you shit. And almost, almost left someone who cared for me instead.
Thank you for the lesson mate.
Even though I really detest you, hate is too much.
I don't hate you, in fact, I'm surprised I'm not THAT surprised.

So in conclusion, lesson learnt:
-My gut feeling is my best buddy; I should REALLY listen to it more
-When people make you feel TOO good, you know there's something wrong
-People who over-swoon over you, when you know you're just plain average all over, there is something that he/she wants back

KL and Cross Country

Okay, so ya see my custard flavored tree stump Aira organized a Muslim Lolita gathering in Times Square tomorrow.

When she invited me, oh damn I know the chance of me getting to got is like 900% IMPOSSIBLE.
I guess 2012 is true; here's proof:

Me: Mom, can I got to my friends gathering at KL this 20th? I'LL go with Ran Ran [my bestie]
Mom: Sure. I can let you go, but you have exam on Monday right? Don'tcha wanna study?

O_______O Can?? CAN?? CAN????!!! <----this word would NEVER EVER EMERGE OUT OF HER MOUTH ALONG WITH THE LETTERS KL
Or anything that involves me going ANYWHERE, without chaperon.

WTF?? And my baka, baka mouth had to mention EXAM and COMPULSORY CROSS COUNTRY event at school at the same day.

Why am I so slow nowadays huh? TT^TT
Sorry Aira, I love you but I just can't go....

Have fun....sob....Q___Q

Why am I school so skema. Its just cross country... I wanna hurt someone so badly on that day =A=.....

New Year....NEW HAIR??!!

At the eve of the first day of 2010, Matsu, aka Kodomo Lion Kid suddenly asked me to switch to my maxis number [cuz I can't configure the Celcom one to receive MMSs, oh forgive me~*sarcasm*]

This dude sends lotsa crap over, and at that I was thinking "WTF is it this time....? (=__=")"
The picture he sent me last time was traumatizing enough, I'd be careful every time I agree to his antics [please note I will not discuss this ANYMORE]

And voila from an average geeky nerd...... [oh forgive me for being honest D8];

....to...... [lol checkout the kawaii pose XD]

O________O

Okay, I surely felt my heart somehow went to take a break. Andd.....as much as I HATE [500%-ly] to admit it......he is kinda.....hot.....but; WTFFFF???!!

Pretty much my condition that renders me from replying to Matsu

After recovering from the shock, semi-fatality and......done swooning......ahem, the usual reactions take over.
Like a strict and concerned father my WTF??!! spun into "You owe me an explanation young man!!" bla bla bla~

Sparta wants explanation too D8
You are in trouble Matsu.

But the dude looks okay in it so what the heck...I don't wanna be a party pooper....

Dude, you're gonna be in serious trouble [especially if Neuro knows XD]

I wish I'm not in school anymore.... DX
*throws a tantrum*

Dogs: Bullets and Carnage

Yes, this Dogs by Miwa Shirow.

Showing off Dogs in the rack.....[that sentence sounded really off....]

I bought a Chinese edition DOGS manga by Miwa Shirow online at this blog. I already read the entire three volume online, I guess it was sorta a "me first" urge to own something like that. I plan on putting translation scripts inside incase someone plans on reading it. I bought it for the lulz XD
[translation scripts? How geeky can you be, dude?!]

So what if I can't read Chinese, pfft!
=//////=

*walk hastily in a well-mannered way*

Behold, the innards deshi deshi.

Lol, choosing the pages with no dialogue on purpose XP

Le covers XD. Miwa makes awesome cover, yesh. Your argument is invalid *karate anyone that disagreed*

I'll post more high-quality doting pictures of the comics but for now please bare it with me okish?

By the way, highly recommend the blog I purchased this collection [they have hundreds of second-hand comics and novels. They're mostly Chinese, with some exception from Gempakstarz releases]

Check them outcho---> http://puppeteer7.blogspot.com/

Till next time.
